Aug 22, 2019 Samsung Dex app now available on Windows, Mac: Here’s why you should try it out. Samsung touted improved Dex capabilities with the Galaxy Note 10 series, allowing users to access the phones’ desktop environment via a laptop and a USB cable.

Unlike Huawei’s OneHop software that pairs its handsets with its MateBook laptops via NFC, you’ll need to connect your Galaxy Note 10/10+ to your Windows or Mac computer to make use of the DeX apps. Once connected, the DeX app opens in a separate window where you can control your smartphone from. The good thing is that you only need a USB cable to use Dex instead of having to purchase the dedicated dock.

The upgraded DeX experience lets you view videos, images, and documents on a larger display while still using your Galaxy Note 10/10+ as a phone. You can drag and drop files from your phone to your Windows or Mac computer and back again while using the external mouse and keyboard to get that desktop convenience.
